How-To Save Money in Your Home: Use Eco-Friendly Hardware and Adjust Monitor Brightness

Many of our high-tech computers and laptops nowadays have eco-friendly hardware built into them, and our computer monitors are no different, however display monitors do use quite a bit of electricity to project what we have running on our computer screens at any given time. On my computer monitors for instance, I have turned down the brightness levels by twenty-five percent each, so the computer monitors are all running a brightness of seventy-five percent from the factory default setting.

I have done that for two reasons, the first reason being since I use my computers quite often, the brightness can become quite annoying on my eyes, especially in a dark room. The second reason is to save a pretty penny on my electric bill each month since the monitors with the adjust brightness levels require less energy to display the computer generated images.

If you do not know how to adjust your computer monitor brightness levels, there are plenty of how-to guides on the internet for various computer operating systems such as Microsoft 8.1 and the newly released operating system the Microsoft 10. If you do not wish to turn down the brightness levels on your computer monitor, there are technology companies that manufacture eco-friendly computer monitors that are ready to use out-of-the-box, albeit for a price of course.

If you are like me and watch your television in a dark room, the brightness of television monitors can also be adjusted. Since our televisions especially the new high definition 4k televisions require more energy to display images, they use more electricity which in turn, increases our electric bill on our utility statement every month. Taking into consideration other eco-friendly peripheral computer hardware such as an eco-friendly keyboard, an eco-friendly mouse, an eco-friendly printer, and an eco-friendly power supply will help to save you even more of your hard earned money by lowering your monthly electric bill.
