How-To Save Money in Your Home: Stop Buying Bottled Water

There are many ways to get drinking water rather than having to spend a lot of money at a local store. Not only is bottled water expensive but the plastic bottles are harmful to the environment. A twenty-four or thirty-two case of bottled water can fall in the range of a couple dollars to up to four or five dollars, with the more expensive items being the alkaline bottled water.

We have a few less expensive options available to us though, such as getting our water straight from the faucet or even using rain catches to catch and trap rain water that falls from the sky. Those of us who do not care for the taste of tap water can add a water filter to the water faucet for an even crisper taste and help to further remove any contaminates that happen to be in the tap water.

There are also filtered water pitchers where you run tap water through the top of the pitcher and the water filters down through the water filter and into the water container. These pitchers can be conveniently stored on countertops or in the refrigerator. One more option is to get your drinking water from a refrigerator that has an inside water dispenser. Many of these dispensers include a water filter with the unit.

With many plastic water bottles still containing BPA (Bisphenol A) and the water inside of the plastic water bottles containing questionable fluoride, switching to an alternative means source of getting and drinking water might not be a bad habit to get in to.
