One of the easiest ways for a tech savvy entrepreneur to make money online is by blogging. In short, blogging simply means to gather your thoughts and put them into words to share with the world using a content management system (cms) such as WordPress or Joomla. And when I say “blogging” I don’t simply mean posting a highlight about the latest pair of shoes you bought or the latest cruise you were on. What I mean by “blogging” is taking the time to research a popular money making niche and using that subject matter and related search friendly keywords to consistently publish high quality articles using a high quality theme.

1. Consistent posting schedule

Setting a consistent posting schedule for yourself is one of the most effective ways in generating a constant stream of visitors. And a constant stream of visitors means a potential increase in ad revenue.

You may want to consider researching the correlation between organic traffic and Page rpm.

If you prefer to publish one blog post per week, make sure you set yourself a consistent posting schedule. Let’s say you work a full time job but you are off on Sundays and Mondays. That gives you enough time to research a blog topic on Sunday and type it out on Monday. So if you publish one post every Monday, then make sure you only publish one post every Monday. If you skip a Monday because you are going to make a much larger post later on in the week your readers might be left thinking you quit posting and abandoned your blog or they may be turned off by your inconsistent posting schedule and visit other more predictable blogs in the future instead of yours. You may want to get yourself a calendar and circle every Monday on it to help remind you that your visitors expect you to publish a post on those days.

WordPress allows the blogger to schedule posts to be automatically published on a future date and time. I absolutely love this toolset which is built directly into WordPress core. So if you still have Sundays and Mondays off, you are able to write several posts on Sunday and set each one to automatically publish on a future Monday.

What works for me is that I take the amount of words in my latest published blog post and divide that number by 100 to determine the amount of days I can skip before publishing another blog post. For example after publishing a 100 word blog post would mean that I would take that 100 words / 100 = 1. Which means I can wait 1 day before I should publish another blog post. If my latest published blog post was 700 words long then 700 words / 100 = 7. Which means I can go a whole week before I should publish another blog post. And if I posted a mammoth 3,000 word blog post then 3,000 words / 100 = 30. Which means I can go roughly an entire month before I should publish another blog post.

I call this The Word Count Publishing Method

The Word Count Publishing Method may not work for all bloggers; however, for me, by being a Word Count Publisher fits in perfectly with the type of lifestyle I have.

I also like to stagger my scheduled blog posts by word count.

For example I may publish a short 300 word blog post, then after 3 days I would publish a 700 word blog post, then after 1 week I may publish a 100 word blog post, then after 1 day I may publish a 3,000 word blog post. All of those posts would have been written several weeks ago and set to automatically publish using WordPress’ post scheduling feature.

I call this a Post Ladder

By using the Post Ladder approach I can avoid publishing only a dozen 3,000 word articles to instead publish a combination of several dozen 100 – 3,000 word articles.

Imagine working your tail off for only a few days in a row to write a 3,000 word high quality blog post and then taking the rest of that month off. The more words your blog posts contains, the more time you can spend away from the computer researching and typing and enjoy that time with your family.

Financial freedom and quality family time is literally at the tips of your fingers

Take for instance this particular blog post. This blog has well over 1,000 words in it. So 1,000 / 100 = 10. Which means I can go 10 days before I should publish another blog post. Those ten days gives me time to do things around the house, run errands, and spend time with my family. What I will probably do is take a week off and then for the three days that follow do research about a subject and begin writing the next blog post that will be published soon after.

Every so often I may publish a blog post that falls out of line of the Post Ladder. For example the post;

Top conspiracy theories behind The Great YouTube Shutdown of 10/16/2018

was published just 11 days after the post;

An in depth study on the Mountain Deception

Even though the post about the mountain deception contains well over 3,000 words, I wanted to quickly cover The monumental Great YouTube Shutdown of 10/16/2018.

For me, this particular method just works.

2. High quality articles

Your blog should consist of high quality articles with subject matter relevant to today’s trending topics.

Owning a personal blog that details your life story or a blog that revolves around a subject that only you are passionate about is all fine and well; however, if the vast majority of people find the subject matter on your blog boring, then why would they even visit your blog in the first place let alone keep returning to your blog.

A blog with no traffic is a blog that makes no money

It may be hard at first to write about a subject that you have to learn and do research on, but if that particular subject is where the money is at and your ultimate goal is to make money writing blog articles, then it only makes sense for you to take the time to research and write about that particular subject.

You can always have a page on your blog in which you post off topic articles or random thoughts you have, but you should always keep the most popular money making articles out in front.

For instance let’s say your are a world traveler and you own a blog that has little to no content on it. Even though you travel the world, you have always wanted to write blog articles for a living. So you spend some time researching popular niches that make the most money. You come to find out that car insurance articles earn more money than world travel articles. So you begin to research various car insurance keywords that people search for and spend time learning all about the car insurance trade. Once you know enough about a particular area of car insurance you begin to write articles and share that information for others to read on your blog. You begin posting “how to” articles about how to find the best car insurance rate quotes. You begin posting tips on selecting the best car insurance agent for your readers. After several months of posting you now have a successful car insurance blog helping you to earn passive income, while at the same time being a world traveler. You have even ended up creating a separate page on your blog that details your world travel adventures complete with pictures and videos; however, your home page and all subsequent pages revolve around your blog’s money making niche…car insurance.

Your blog posts should also contain professional grammar and sentence structure. Each of your blog posts should have that visual appeal as if a professional writer had written the article. After searching for a topic or question, a reader ends up stumbling upon an article you wrote on your blog. After they read the article they should leave with the impression that either;

1. The owner of the blog is a professional writer.

or

2. The owner of the blog hired a professional writer to write that article.

After all, you are the one who is supposed to be the professional writer.

3. High quality theme

Your blog should have a high quality theme by default for every visitor. Your theme should be engineered with the latest in SEO and coding practices in order to attract organic visitor attention and to retain returning visitor traffic. If you do not know how to create a premium theme yourself, then you are going to want to purchase a premium theme from a trusted source. I know not everyone wants to purchase a premium theme since your ultimate goal is to make money; however,

Sometimes you have to spend money to make money

Once you have your premium theme installed, you may want to consider creating a sitemap of your blog so search engine web crawlers can scan your site’s content to help visitors more easily find your site in search results. You may also want to install an SEO plugin such as Yoast SEO (which allows you to create a sitemap by default).

Not everyone browses the web with the lights on, especially those who surf the web on their tablet pc’s in their bed at night. So your theme should not only be retina ready but it should also have a dark mode or dark version of the theme for users who prefer to read web articles in the dark. Many premium themes include a dark version of the theme already.

By utilizing the correct methods, blogging can be enjoyable for both the writer and the reader. When a blogger starts to dedicate their time to honing their blogging craft, they can begin to make easy money fast.
