How to clear recent documents in LibreOffice
Note, this will not remove any of the files from your computer, it will simply allow you to unclutter the recent files list that appears when you first launch the LibreOffice application.
If you are a LibreOffice power user the Recent Files list upon program start up can build up quite quickly cluttering the application screen in the process. There are two options when you wish to unclutter the Recent Files list. You have the option to either remove the recent documents individually or you can remove the entire list of recent documents all at once.
This is what you do…
1. Launch the LibreOffice desktop application.
If there are any recent files, they will be displayed in a masonry type grid layout.
If you wish to remove only certain recent files from the list, then simply hover your mouse cursor over the recent document you wish to remove and a black “X” will appear on the top right corner of the individual file screen. Simply select that “X” on each of the documents you wish to remove from the recent files list.
If you wish to remove all of the recent files from the LibreOffice start up screen, then;
2. Select the drop down arrow from the “Recent Files” button on the left menu bar.
A “Clear Recent Documents” button will appear.
3. Select the button.
Now all of your recent documents have been removed from the file list.
The first number of the current version of your LibreOffice installation now appears in the center of the application screen. You are now allowed to drop a document into the center of the application window or choose an app from the left menu bar to create a brand new document.
