The first few moments when you are trying to stay alive in Minecraft can be the some of the most intense moments of your gameplay. Probably the most critical resource one can turn their attention to during those early stages in a game of Minecraft are Trees and the Wood they drop after you successfully chopped a block of wood from a tree into a piece you can gather into your inventory.
Not every game you’ll end up swinging at trees with a diamond or golden axe, let alone an enchanted diamond or golden axe. So you would have to make due with any tool at your disposal, even if that means chopping wood with your bare fists.
No matter which tool and method you use to chop trees, everyone has their own art and style into effective tree chopping.
Most trees in Minecraft are to tall to effectively chop them from the base, upwards. Which is why I ended up using the following method for “Effective Tree Chopping.” Chopping from the top of the tree, downwards.
1. Begin by carefully scaling a tree. (Either by chopping and scaling its leaves, climbing vines, stacking and scaling resource blocks such as dirt, or scaling and jumping from a tall hill or mountain on top of the tree.)
2. Switch to the most efficient axe in your inventory.
3. Stand above the top part of the trunk of the tree. (Even of there are leaves on top of it.)
4. Look downwards and begin swinging your axe at the top of the tree. (Working your way down the tree as you “chop” and “pick up” the tree and its wood.)
5. When you are safely on the ground, you would have chopped and picked up all of the wood from the tree.
