Minecraft Survival Mode – Is Taking over a NPC Village a Good Idea? Pro’s, Con’s and Benefits
Minecraft is an addictive video game, whether you are playing it on the computer (pc-personal computer), Sony PlayStation 3, Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox 360, Microsoft Xbox One, or on a mobile handheld wireless device. Minecraft can sap away hours of our lives. But that’s a good thing! One of my favorite gameplay modes to play a game session of Minecraft is the survival mode. And one of my first strategies or things to do and first few goals to accomplish is to find the nearest Minecraft NPC (Non Playable Character) Village. Once I find the npc village, I take either take it over, or use it as a temporary base camp to stock up on supplies, resources, and to simply regroup and catch my bearings. But what are the benefits of taking over an npc village in minecraft using survival mode? I will outline some benefits that could help persuade you to consider taking over an npc village in minecraft, if the npc village has enough sustainability to it.
NPC’s (Non Playable Characters) and Trading
These guys, the npc’s, will usually offer some pretty decent trading opportunities. Some may offer emeralds, baked potatoes, or even leather armor. Be expected to run across a few npc’s who have terrible trade impacts on your inventory. Some npc’s may charge you a considerable amount of one resource for a limited amount of another resource. If you need to trade then I say go ahead and do it. Or if you see a good bargain that an npc is offering at the time, then I say take it. You may want to wall the npc’s in their homes at night if they tend to wander aimlessly around the village, possibly getting attacked by angry mobs. Then again, if you just don’t care about the npc characters, then you can simply dig a pit underground and seal them in!
Crops and Farms
Most npc villages in minecraft are chalk full of farms. You will usually find more than one wheat farm and more than one carrot farm. An occasional potato farm is not unheard of in small village either. I will usually up root all of the carrots and either make a carrot stew out of them while cooking them, or replant them to gain twice as much carrot produce in multiple carrot farms. I love wheat. I think wheat is one of the most valuable commodity resources in a minecraft video game play through session using survival mode. Wheat allows you to lure and tame animals along with allowing you to bake bread. Even if I do not find a village in the first few moments in a survival mode minecraft session, I will undoubtedly hack down some grass and plant some wheat seeds along a shoreline to quickly get some bread cooking and baked. Be sure to support the farms with candlelight so as to allow the crops to continue to grow all night long. The torches also help to detour potential mobs from spawning nearby. And the last thing you want are for a mob of zombies, skeletons, spiders, or creepers to kill off your trusty npc’s and hard worked farm crops.
A Free Base
A minecraft npc village is akin to getting a free base, where as all that base are belong to you! When you come across a npc village in minecraft you are going to want to fortify it with some tall coblestone walls with gaps in the walls so you can view outside and shoot your arrows from your bow at any mobs spawning nearby including the dreaded enderman or ender man. Planting some cactus or cacti along the outside of your fortified cobblestone walls can add some quick deterrence to any nearby mobs who happened to spawn in the nearby area surrounding the npc village. Digging a moat and filling it with either water or molten hot lava is another great way to quickly fortify an npc village in minecraft.
