A little bit about me

Aside from being a dividend growth investor I am also a stay at home full time blogger. Just like how I buy shares and invest in dividend paying stocks to generate a consistent cash flow I blog full time for that much desired passive income. If you dedicate your time and possess the willingness to improve your writing style blogging can be a fun and rewarding career. Blogging full time can be an excellent passive income generator and can help you earn the big bucks like a corporate executive. Unlike a typical corporate executive; however, you don’t have to waste your time by waking up early and commuting to work everyday. The only commuting you’ll have to do is from your recliner to your coffee maker and back to your recliner.

Every morning I enjoy drinking a cup of coffee and watching the stock market. I enjoy tracking how my own dividend stock portfolio compares to the market at large and how closely my portfolio tracks the S&P 500. After I analyze the stock market I begin researching and drafting my next blog article. Blogging full time works for me because it helps to support my busy lifestyle. By earning money blogging for a living enables me to more conveniently spend time enjoying the great outdoors without having to request vacation time. I am free to go camping, hiking, fishing, and kayaking anytime I want. In between blogging sessions I occasionally go outside and tend to my garden. By staying at home and blogging full time allows me to spend more quality family time with my family rather than spending that time with coworkers.

The number one reason why I chose to work from home is because I hate working for someone else. And as I discussed in this post How a healthy work/life balance can help make you financially independent working for someone else sucks! Compound interest may be the most powerful force in the universe; however, time is the most valuable commodity in the universe. Why would I give my time to someone else? My time is my own. Not someone else’s. And why on God’s green Earth would I want to waste my time working for someone else when I can work for myself? Not only does working for someone else rob me of my time that I could put to better use earning passive income by blogging and trading stocks, but my family is robbed of my time and presence of being unable to spend quality family time with them.

How to determine what to blog about

If you’ve always wanted to blog full time but don’t know what to blog about, think about your hobbies. What are you passionate about? What do you like to do in your free time? If you weren’t reading this article and didn’t have to leave your home to go work for someone else then what would you want to do?

Are you an expert in one or more coding languages? If so then you could write coding tutorials and teach others on how to code. You could teach your readers on how to enroll in online coding courses or you could even develop your own coding course. You could offer a no charge sampling of your coding course and if your students like the sample course they could purchase your complete course. In turn you would be generating two forms of passive income. One from the revenue generated by your Adsense ads and another from your students purchasing your complete online coding course. You could review coding software and blog about the differences and similarities between various coding languages. You could even help your readers to make money by blogging about how to land a coding job for a fortune 500 company.

Perhaps you are a mobile app engineer. You could write tutorials on how to create mobile apps using different software. You could review mobile app software and blog about the differences and similarities between creating mobile apps for android and iOS operating systems. You could help your readers make money by blogging about how to land a job as a mobile app developer for a blue chip company. You could blog about how to monetize mobile apps with ads and in-app purchases. You could even blog about how the next generation of AI technologies relates to mobile app development.

Final words

In this rapidly evolving technological world we live in there are so many topics and areas of interest to blog about that it can be challenging at first for a first time blogger to choose and stick with a single trendy niche. A profitable income generating blog doesn’t just spring up overnight. It takes time to build a blog empire. Don’t just pull a niche out of the blue. Take your time and do your due diligence when determining what to blog about. A high traffic generating niche that one blogger blogs about might not interest you. Even if a particular niche is highly profitable and drives a lot of traffic, if the niche doesn’t interest you it may be difficult for you when trying to write blog articles about that niche. Not only would a niche that doesn’t interest you be difficult to blog about, but it may be challenging for you to stay current on the trendy topics relating to that area of interest. And if you don’t stay current on the evolution of your niche a downtrend of traffic could occur which could result in a loss of ad revenue and a decrease in your passive income. Figuring out your niche is key in determining what you should be blogging about.

And for those of you who still don’t know what to blog about, just start typing.

Cheers!
