How-To Save Money in Your Home: Decrease Electricity Usage
When using electricity I have found that it is wiser to follow the type of energy savings plan offered by your electric company. For example, our electric company offers a plan in which there is an “on-peak” rate for the generation of electricity which is calculated at a higher cost for the kilowatts used, and there is also an “off-peak” rate which is calculated at a lower cost for the generation of electricity used.
Therefore when we do laundry for example, which typically consists of only using the washing machine since we air dry most of our laundry, we only use the washing machine during “off-peak” hours, and so as to avoid paying the higher fees associated with the “on-peak” electricity rate. Check with your local energy provider for the times and various energy savings plans in your area to help reduce your dependency on costly electricity usage.
