The most important commodity an individual has is their own personal time. The human life expectancy is approximately seventy, eighty, or maybe ninety years and beyond, if one is in optimal health. When we reach the end of our lives we will look back and reminisce about how we used the time we were given, and whether or not that usage was productive, or didn’t account for anything at all.
I ask you to imagine a line that stretches to infinity from left to right, as far as the eye can see. Then take a marker and place a dash somewhere on the line. Once you’ve done that, step back and drop the marker onto the ground, and begin to look towards your left with your eyes fixed on the line as it fades out of sight and into eternity. As you slowly pan your head to the right you come upon the dash. Just as soon as you come upon the dash on the line, you have already passed it and are now looking at the line fading away into eternity on the right.
The eternity line represents all of time that ever existed and that ever will exist. The dash on the line represents your lifetime. Our life here on Earth is nothing more than a simple dash, a blip if you will, on a timeline of infinity, an infinity stretching out to a never ending void of eternity.
So what’s the deal with money then? I believe money is the second most important commodity an individual has to offer. Most of us live paycheck to paycheck. We have the ability to use our hard earned cash to purchase anything we desire. We satisfy our “wants” and our “needs” through the use of money during our lifetime here on Earth.
