My Top 3 Most Successful Money Saving Tips for Washing and Drying Clothes
Everyone likes to save money, but did you know you can save even more money by simply altering the way you wash and dry your clothes? Even if you’ve purchased that brand-spanking new stainless-steel washing and drying machine from your favorite local furniture or retail store. In this brief how-to save money tutorial, I will list three simple-to-follow tips on how I save money when I wash and dry my clothing. Lets get started…
Tip 1. Combining Loads of Laundry
By combining my laundry together into fewer loads I am saving on my water bill since there are fewer loads of laundry that have to run through the washing machine at any given time. I combine all my laundry together into a single large load of laundry. It doesn’t matter what I’m washing, whether that be washcloths, socks, shirts, towels, or pants…I combine all of my laundry together into a single load. I never use bleach in my loads of laundry, so that is another reason why I effortlessly combine all my loads of laundry into one single large load. I only need to do a load of laundry about once a week or so, and by only combining all my loads of laundry together into one single large load of laundry, I am saving both time and money. I’m saving time by combining my loads of laundry since I don’t have to spend any more time doing a second, third, or more loads of laundry. I am saving money by combining my loads of laundry since I am not wasting any more water and my water bill is cheaper since I am only washing one load of laundry.
Tip 2. Use Tap Cold Water Instead Of Warm or Hot Water
By using the coldest water setting such as tap cold water instead of warm or hot water, then my gas water heater or electric water heater won’t be having to use electricity to heat more water up that would have been used inside of my washing machine. By using tap cold water instead of warm or hot water, my water heater whether it be gas or electric won’t be wasting any gas or electricity to heat more water. So I typically will either have a lower gas bill or a lower electric bill depending on which water heater won’t be running. Also my water heaters require less maintenance and will last longer since they will be used less since I am using tap cold water instead of warm or hot water in my washing machine.
Tip 3. Hang Wet Clothing To Dry Instead Of Using A Drying Machine
When it comes time to dry my clothing I have several clothing lines in my laundry room and outside where I organize and hang and dry all of my wet clothing. By hanging my wet clothing to dry on a clothing line either inside or outside rather than using a drying machine, I am saving electricity since my drying machine won’t be used at all. I am actually thinking about just selling my drying machine, I guess it’ll come in handy in case I do need to dry my clothes quicker, rather than slower when they are drying on a clothing line inside or outside.
