Best Performing Google AdSense AD Unit Sizes to use Effectively on the MOST Successful Niche Blogs

One of the toughest questions to answer is what is the best performing Google AdSense Ad unit size that is the most effective to use in generating consistent monetary revenue via high performing Page RPM (Page Revenue Per Thousand Impressions) and Impression RPM (Impression Revenue Per Thousand Impressions)? One of the best methods in determining which ad size is the correct ad size to use on your blog is to create custom channels for each of your Google AdSense Ad Units, one channel per ad unit, and then measure and compare which ad unit generates the earnings. By studying the Page RPM and Impression RPM of several AdSense ad units, you will gain a better idea of which Google Ad Unit’s generates the highest estimated earnings and which ad unit’s generate the least amount of estimated earnings. On my blog, I usually stick with three of the most popular Text & Display ads for my AdSense Units, which are the (728 x 90 Leaderboard), (300 x 250 Medium Rectangle), and the (300 x 600 Large Skyscraper) AdSense ad units. Sometimes I will substitute one of those ad units for the (160 x 600 Wide Skyscraper) Google AdSense ad unit just to see if I can generate a higher performing Page RPM and Impression RPM for my overall estimated monthly earnings.

Then again, your blog could have the best performing AdSense ad units displayed, however if your blog does not have daily and fresh unique content related to your blog’s niche topic, then your less than average organic visitor traffic may result in less than ideal ad unit performance. I usually have my higher performing ad units as the AdSense For Content ads, then I may throw in a link unit type of ad unit to mix things up a bit. There is no “one method” to solve every blog owner’s questions. Some webmaster tips and tricks come down to a conglomerate of ideal methodologies. If you wish to have a blog which nets you a decent sized monetary income, then be prepared to spend your time advertising your blog’s content, having daily, fresh, and unique content, choosing the best performing long tail keywords and short tail keywords, along with striving to have a higher Google Page Rank score via a strong SEO (Search Engine Optimization) campaign. If you don’t know or are having difficulty in determining which keywords to use for your blog’s title and content, then you may want to check out the Google AdWords Keywords Planner tool and study which keywords are currently trending and have the highest amount of bids and search hits from organic traffic.

Just because you use the maximum amount of ads you are allowed to display on your blog, does not mean your blog will make you more money. Your estimated earnings could be lower than you expected, probably since the higher influx of ads you plastered onto your blog’s webpages turn off any of your visitors from re-visiting your blog again in the future. Sometimes one or two Google AdSense for Content ad units may be better than two or three AdSense for Content ad units. Put yourself in your visitor’s shoes…would you want to visit a blog if the majority of the content comes from distracting ad units? Another thing to keep in mind when choosing the correct ad units to use on your blog is determining what the majority of the platforms that your visitors use to browse your website are. Such as (Desktop’s, High-end mobile devices, or Tablets). Some platforms may better support a particular AdSense unit than other ad unit’s. If you have an average amount of platforms being used to access and browse your blog, then you may wish to consider only using the (Automatic Size Responsive) AdSense ad units that respond to the viewport, screen resolution, and screen size of the organic visitor traffic platform’s being used. If you do create and use one of the responsive AdSense ad units, then remember to create a custom channel for it and track the metrics and study the estimated earnings that are generated from that particular ad unit.
