How to add DROP CAP’s in Microsoft Word 2013

Step 1. Launch Microsoft Word 2013 via a Microsoft Office Operating System.
Step 2. Create a Blank Document or Open a previously saved Document.
Step 3. Left click once on the “Insert” tab.
Step 4. Highlight or Select the first letter of a paragraph.
Step 5. Left click once on “Drop Cap” to Add a Drop Cap under the “Text” section of the “Insert” tab.

The Microsoft Word 2013 user is presented four options available to choose from.

Option 1. “None” – No Drop Cap is created.
Option 2. “Dropped” – A Drop Cap is created outside the margin and inside the text body from the first letter of the first word of the first paragraph, dropping and pushing text three lines down.
Option 3. “In margin” – A Drop Cap is created inside the margin but outside of the text body.
Option 4. “Drop Cap Options…” – By left clicking once on “Drop Cap Options…” There are presented in addition to the previous options of (“None” “Dropped” “In margin”) there are, under an “Options” section, three additional formatting options for the Microsoft Word 2013 user;

– “Font:” – The Microsoft Word 2013 user is able to change the Font of the letter to a specific font style.
– “Lines to drop:” – The Microsoft Word 2013 user is able to specify the amount of lines to drop the first letter of the first sentence of the first paragraph in a body of text.
– Distance from text:” – The Microsoft Word 2013 user is able to specify a sort of “padding” or “margin” in “inches” to push the number of lines specified away from the Drop Cap.

The Drop Cap is created in a text box, in which The Microsoft Word 2013 user is able to change the height and width of the Drop Cap via drag tool buttons.

If you left click out of the Drop Cap text box and you wish to change the height and width of the Drop Cap via the drag tool buttons, simply verify the cursor is in the Drop Cap text box and left click once on the anchor icon on the lower left corner.

Double left clicking on the anchor icon will bring up the “Frame” pop up dialog box with additional formatting options such as “Text Wrapping” and Frame Removal.

Right clicking on the anchor icon will bring up various “Paste Options” and “Borders and Shading” options.
