Searching for someone to hire to join your staff team at your personal forum can be an extremely daunting task. You have certain criteria that you set for your staff members and your forum and if a member of staff does not follow that criteria you deal with the situation as it comes. Which is why strict criteria must be set by the forum owner, and met, by the forum staff members. Though when does a forum owner actually “Hire” someone to join their staff team? We have highlighted a handful of useful criteria when looking to choose the right person to hire as a staff member on you personal forum.

– Positive Attitude
The potential employee needs to have a cheerful and positive attitude. One that does not complain about the amount of work that needs to be done, or the stress that may come with the job requirements. Having a positive attitude can be a great moral boost, not only to the forum owner when they are feeling stressed about their duties on the forum, but also to the other staff members on the staff team. In no particular order…

– Activity
A forum staff member needs to have the willingness to interact with the other forum members on a constant basis. Someone who is not shy about communicating with their fellow forum member would be a great benefit across the spectrum of the forums’ community.

– Punctual
A good requirement for a forum owner, is to set a on/off time requirement for the staff members. The staff member, whether they are recruited for part time work or full time work, need to have a scheduled time of day they are required to be logged in to the forum. They are a hired member after all.

– Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual who is about to become a part of a forum staff team, needs to have the required “knowledge, Skills, and Abilities” that are mandatory for the staff position in which they are applying for.

– Grammar
All staff members should have a general idea on how to spell a word, and if they do not know how to spell a word, then know how to research on the internet or in a book about how the word is spelled.

And now the big question that a forum owner must ask themself;

Does someone need to be hired?

When hiring someone to join you to be apart of your forum staff team, it is not always a wise decision to hire someone just because they are your “best friend” or because you’ve “known them for awhile.” The forum owner needs to have a strict set of criteria that must be met and followed on a daily basis, by any and all potential staff members. Having a set of rules to follow for your forum staff team will help aide the smooth flow of work being performed by all members of staff on a forum.
