I’m probably going to get some judgement for this, but I write some My Little Pony fan fictions. I’m currently on my series “A New Home” and had my first chapter posted a few weeks ago. Here it is!
Chapter One – The Letter
“Ugh!” Twilight Sparkle let out a sigh of annoyance as she fell backwards on to a pile of books. Her library lay around her in total disarray. Books were piled across the floor until not one found its resting place on a shelf. “Spiiikkeee, can you not find a book I haven’t read yet?” she said in desperation. She had been searching all day for something new to read after her adventure to Celestia and Luna’s old castle. Unfortunately, it seemed as if she had already read every book she owned. “I’m trying, but you haven’t stopped reading since we got to Ponyville all those years ago,” Spike replied, popping his head out of a stack of books on the far side of Twilight’s library, “How about this one: The Royal Princesses and Her Duties?” He held it up for Twilight to turn and see, but she waved her hoof in the air to dismiss the suggestion. “That was the first one I read after becoming a princess of Equestria, don’t you remember?” “Ooohh yeeaa, your highness, I’m sorry I can’t remember every book you read,” he replied rather sarcastically before diving back into the pile of books. Twilight sighed and covered her face with her two front hooves.
Twilight’s over-exaggerated depression was interrupted by a deep belch that made her shoot straight into sitting position. She looked around, but didn’t see anything until Spike crawled out of the stack of books he had been searching in. In his hands, he held a manila scroll with a red seal . “A letter from the Princess!” Twilight squealed as she leapt to all fours and rushed to Spike. Using her horn’s magic, she brought the floating scroll to her face, just close enough to read outloud: “Dear Princess Twilight Sparkle, as you probably know, there is much to being a Princess of Equestria. You have already received the wings of an Alicorn, to signify your royalty, but a princess is not a princess without a castle. I have discussed with Princess Luna and we both think it fitting if you were to restore our old castle, and call it your new home. Don’t worry, I want all of your friends to help you! I wish you good luck, Twilight. Signed, Princess Celestia.”
Nothing was said for seconds after Twilight had finished reading her letter until a high pitched “Weeeeeeeee!” broke the silence from outside her window. Still in shock, Twilight tiptoed to the window to see the most beautiful sun rising on the horizon. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, so Rainbow Dash must have been clearing the sky earlier that day . After her eyes adjusted, Twilight looked down into the street to see Pinkie Pie bouncing up and down in circles.
“We’re building a castle, we’re building a castle!” she kept squealing to herself.
“Pinkkee, calm down! How did you even know?” Twilight shouted from her second story window of the library-tree she lived in.
“Silly, you were reading so loud I heard you aaalll the waaayy down here!”
Twilight let out a sigh of discomfort. She didn’t want a castle. Having to live in the Everfree Forest would mean that she would be separated from all of her friends in Ponyville. Plus, she wasn’t even sure if she could rebuild a whole castle! “Spike, see if you can find a book on stone construction,” she said as she trotted across the room, stepping on countless books to get to her closet. Throwing on her saddle bag, she walked over to her desk, “I’m going to need a basic plan… Let’s see here…” Staring at the blank parchment in front of her, she hovered the inked quill in the air and drew a blank. She never realized how hard it would be to design a building. “Yeah, I’m going to need help on this, why don’t we go ask Applejack? She’s raised a barn, right?” she said to Spike. Levitating a few pieces of parchment, some quills, ink, and various other materials into her bag, Spike jumped onto Twilight’s back as she trotted out of the front door.
