Should Ecommerce Websites have a Professional Online Store?
There are many advantages and disadvantages for including an online store on your blog or website. Having an online store on your blog means that you can potentially interact more with your customer service userbase. An online store on your website can potentially drive more organic traffic to your website and possibly purchase one or more of your products that your are selling. If you do decide on including an online store on your blog, you would not have to worry about some other company boxing and shipping wrong products, misprinting shipping labels, or shipping one product to one customer where the product should have gone to another customer. Then again if you do decide to include a professional online store there are a few disadvantages. A few of the disadvantages are that you will have to keep a live inventory and have inventory control measures for proper inventory keeping of various products that you sell. You will also have to worry about such things as credit card number encryption, and the latest in site security measures to help ensure that your customers are browsing a safe website. You will also need Ecommerce software such as a trusted CMS (Content Management System) to help with your online inventory display, pricing, and purchasing for your browsing customers. Also if you sell through your website, you may or may not want your customers to login to purchase products of yours. Some customers may not want to login to a website they’ve never heard of, where instead, they can just browse to such website such as Amazon or Ebay where they probably already have an account set-up. So all in all…if you know the in’s and out’s of selling products online, security methodologies for Ecommerce and CMS software, and have real life excellent inventory control experience then adding a professional looking online store to your already popular blog may help to net you some passive income. However if you have never worked in an inventory environment, don’t know what Ecommerce or CMS means, and don’t know about website security then you may want to have the big name website companies take over the possible hassle of online shopping for your customers…which in that case, you can simply display one of your products on your blog and point your customers to your product page on a big name website so your customers can feel safe and secure knowing that what they are purchasing is what they will get.
