Samsung and technology in general, have come a long way since the early days of handheld portable video recorders and cameras. I remember back in the day, only twenty years ago, holding a video camcorder up on your shoulder was akin to holding up a rocket launcher. I wasn’t sure if I was off to battle or about to have a family vacation on the beach. When I first heard that Samsung has released a new high definition video recorder, I just had to get my hands on one of the products for an in depth product review. My test unit is the Samsung HMX-F90. I am tempted to purchase another one just so I can brag and say I have two of some of Samsung’s high quality video recorders on the tech market. You won’t find an VHS (Video Home System) tape in this unit that would have otherwise need to be connected to and played from a VCR (video cassette recording) player. Nope, Samsung’s unit is purely a high quality, high definition video recorder product that has photo quality image capturing technology features.

The product I am reviewing has a snugly fitting hand band that allows your right hand to firmly grasp the product on the right side while the hand buckle slides back and down the top side (outer side) of your right hand. The HMX-F90 has a flip out viewing screen allowing the person who is using the video recorder and the people who are being video recorded, to see who or what is being filmed. The HMX-F90 has a 52x Optical Zoom feature, which lets the user of the video recorder to zoom in from quite a far distance away from the target. There is no need to have to be right up close and personal to the person, creature, or place being video recorded anymore. Samsung has got this part down perfect. The lense is able to zoom in from incredible distances while retaining the high quality videos and images we would expect from a $200.00 high definition video recorder.

The HMX-F90 also has what is referred to as CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) with a True Color feature. The HMX-F90 also is able to capture high definition video movies and photo quality images thanks to its (1280 x 720) HD Movie Recording technology. Gone are the days of over pixelated home movies. The HMX-F90 also features various ports such as a USB charging port which charges the removable battery pack fairly quickly, along with an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) output port. Various other component cabling allow the user to connect the HMX-F90 straight to  a television or accepted computer and its monitor for direct hook-up.

The HMX-F90 features a One Touch Sharing Button, allowing the user to conveniently upload and share their home videos to their Youtube channel. The HMX-F90 includes a HYPER DIS (Upgraded Digital Image Stabilization System) for near blur free video capturing. The USB charging feature quickly charges the HMX-F90’s rechargeable and removable battery pack. The HMX-F90 also features a plug and play built in PC Software feature for convenient editing and sharing. To round of the features of the HMX-F90 is a Smart BGM II (Back Ground Music) and “My Clip,” which allows the user of the product to enjoy their favorite moment only. The HMX-F90 high definition video recorder should be a must have item in any technology enthusiasts electronics closet.
