Jurassic World releases to theaters June 12th and speculations are running rampant about which dinosaurs will be in the first movie and which dinosaurs will be fighting. The big question is though, is which ever dinosaurs do fight, who will be the victor?
We will assume Spinosaurus is in this first sequel to the Jurassic Park trilogy known as Jurassic World. With the upset of Tyrannosaurus Rex losing against the Spinosaurus in the third film of the original Jurassic Park movies, Tyrannosaurus Rex fans across the globe are wanting revenge in this new movie.
We all know that the Indominus Rex is in this movie, since she is the genetically modified hybrid we keep hearing about and seeing in the trailers. Well…what about the Spinosaurus? A couple of Spinosaurus’ cousins are in this film, known as the Suchomimus and Baryonyx. Though what if the Spinosaurus is in this film, and what if she fights the Indominus Rex? We will highlight some of each dinosaurs’ physical attributes that could help or hinder them in a brawl with another dinosaur.

Indominus Rex/Spinosaurus

INTELLIGENCE

The Indominus Rex is supposedly the second smartest dinosaur (the Velociraptors being the smartest) on the island. We see in the trailers, that the Indominus Rex is able to hide and sneak up on the ACU Soldiers along with possibly some of the other dinosaurs she hunts. We are not told much about the intelligence of the Spinosaurus in the movies, the she must be pretty intelligent if she could out fight a Tyrannosaurus Rex in the third movie of the Jurassic Park trilogy.

HORNS

The Indominus Rex has two horns on her head, possibly aiding her when she rams into an attacker, puncturing the skin of the other dinosaur. The Spinosaurus lacks any type of head ornamentation which could help aide it during a brawl with another dinosaur.

BONEY HIDE

The Indominus Rex has a boney hide on her back. During one of the trailers we see a helicopter and one of the ACU Soldiers firing a machine gun at her, with some of the bullets ricocheting off her back. Some of the bullets may have penetrated her thick hide, though just the thought that bullets from a machine gun can ricochet off of her back makes her defense all the more better for when another dinosaur attempts to claw at her or bite her. Most hides on dinosaurs must of been pretty thick considering they had to compete for resources, food, and territory with other dinosaurs. They would need a hide to help shield them from attacks against other dinosaurs who seek to do them harm.

LARGE ARMS/CLAWS

The Indominus Rex has two large forearms that she can use to either walk on all fours, or for picking up objects with her large hands. She also has on her overly large arms and hands, and large thumb claw allowing her to gracefully wrap her entire hand around objects and use her thumb claw as deadly weapon for piercing the hide of the other dinosaur. The Spinosaurus too has two large forearms. We see her use them during her fight with the Tyrannosaurus Rex during the second film of the Jurassic Park trilogy along with a few more occurrences during the rest of the movie..

SIZE

The Indominus Rex was created to be larger than the Tyrannosaurus Rex. In the movie it is rumored that she has not finished growing. If that is the case, her weight could be a positive or negative attribute. She could use her weight to overthrow the other dinosaur, then again her weight could also slow her down quite a bit. I do not think her weight will be an issue though, since she can run at a decent pace of 30mph and that just in her paddock that she will be in, in part of Jurassic World. Hinting tho the possibility that she can run at much greater speeds out in the open. Both dinosaurs are large in their own aspects, and the Spinosaurus is no different. She is as large if not larger than the Indominus Rex, since we know that the Spinosaurus was larger than the Tyrannosaurus Rex she fought during the second movie in the Jurassic Park trilogy.

TAIL

The Indominus Rex has an overly large tail, possibly could substitute for both a balance device for when the Indominus Rex is running or making quick sharp turns, or even as a club or whip, to lash at the other dinosaur. The Spinosaurus has a large tail as well, though we only get to see her use her tail as a balancing device for when she was fighting the Tyranosaurus Rex and for running carefully, both throughout the second film in the Jurassic Park series.

LARGE HEAD/TEETH

Both the Indominus Rex and the Spinosaurus have large heads, with the Spinosaurus having a longer head than the Indominus Rex. Teeth wise, we know that the Indominus Rexs’ teeth are replaced by newer teeth, similarly to modern day sharks we have in our oceans. Whose ever teeth are longer and more serrated would possibly have the advantage when it comes down to large teeth during a battle between two large dinosaurs.

So if I were to choose who would win in a fight, I believe it could be a toss up.

A. The Indominus Rex “could” be smarter and larger than the Spinosaurus, though the Indominus Rex, has seen little to no fighting action outside of her paddock in Jurassic World except that we are told that she ate her sibling, though we do not know if that was when they were smaller than what she is now in the movie, or recently before the time of the movie.

B. Spinosaurus has the experience of fighting a Tyrannosaurus Rex from the third movie in the Jurassic Park trilogy.

The fight could go either way, there is only one way to find out for sure, and that is to watch the movies and find out. Whether we see Spinosaurus in the first Jurassic World or the second or third movie of the new trilogy we are just going to have to wait and watch.
