Microsoft CEO veteran since Y2k, Steve Ballmer, is set to retire by next year sometime.
At the trying time of the new console wars, Steve Ballmer has planned to not only step down, but retire.
With Microsofts next generation console named the “Xbox One”, which is due out this Novemeber for $500.00, no successor to the CEO’s position has been revealed as of yet.
Regarding the future CEO candidate and Microsofts Board of Directories set to nominate the next arrival, Bill Gates mentioned;
“We’re fortunate to have Steve in his role until the new CEO assumes these duties.”
“As a member of the succession planning committee, I’ll work closely with the other members of the board to identify a great new CEO,”
Steve Ballmer mentioned;
“We have embarked on a new strategy with a new organization and we have an amazing Senior Leadership Team. My original thoughts on timing would have had my retirement happen in the middle of our company’s transformation to a devices and services company. We need a CEO who will be here longer term for this new direction.”
“There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time,”
