Jurassic World triumphantly takes the Jurassic Park franchise up a notch or two with the latest of the sequels which was released to theaters world wide on June 12, 2015. Jurassic World is all about dinosaurs, as should all movies that begin with the word “Jurassic.” The cast and crew have done a fantastic job at delivering a jaw dropping dinosaur and movie going experience since the release of the original Jurassic Park to theaters on June 11, 1993.

Twenty two years have passed since the events of the original movie. In Jurassic World, the story begins when two brothers, Zach and Gray, played by Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins, are sent off to Jurassic World to form a closer bond with one another along with their parents to finalize a divorce that has been in the works for awhile now. Zack and Gray are sent off to Jurassic World supposedly under the supervision of their Aunt Claire, played by the none other, Bryce Dallas Howard. Claire, being the business women she is, try’s to find the time to watch over Zack and Gray. Claire ends up having one of her assistants, who would latter be picked up by a Pteranodon and then swallowed alive by the Mosasaurus along with the Pteranodon who picked her up and tried to fly away with her.

As Zach and Gray slip away under Claire’s distracted assistant, the two brothers begin to venture the rides and attractions of Jurassic World themselves. When they get to the gyrosphere ride is when event begin to heat up. Masrani, the chief executive officer of the Masrani Corporation pays a visit to his island of Isla Nublar. Having been in operation for roughly ten years now, the Jurassic World executives begin to seek more funding through incubators and international monetary donators by having Claire show them the parks’ latest attraction, the Indominus Rex. The Indominus Rex, formally known as the “Diabolus Rex” is the first genetically modified hybrid. All of the dinosaurs created by the scientist of Jurassic Park, InGen, and Jurassic World are not full fledged dinosaurs, but are rather all genetically modified hybrids in some way or another by harvesting the DNA from mosquito’s trapped in fossilized amber (tree sap).

When Masrani is seeing the Indominus Rexs’ inclosure, him and Claire begin to discuss the viability of the inclosure itself along with a cracked pane of glass separating the viewers and the Indominus Rex. Claire inlists the help of Owen, one of the parks two Velociraptor trainers, the other being Barry, played by Omar Sy. Owen is no stranger to highly intelligent dinosaurs, earlier in the movie he had to rescue a new Jurassic World recruit when the recruit had fallen into the Velociraptor paddock. As Claire and Owen begin to look for the Indominus Rex, they can’t seem to visually see her or pick her up on any of the thermal equipment monitoring systems. Claire heads back to the control room to see if she can spot the hybrid dinosaur via the tracker that had been implanted into the Indominus Rex earlier in her life.

On a side note, we know there were at least two Indominus Rex’s. The sibling was earlier killed and eaten by the Indominus Rex we have in the movie. The Indominus Rex ends up fooling the park workers and latter breaks out of her paddock that she had been in all her life. Masrani and Hoskins, played by Vincent D’Onofrio send in the ACU and InGen soldiers to help capture the hybrid dinosaur. The Indominus Rex throughout the movie goes on a killing spree, dispatching anything she can see and smell. Including some Ankylosaurus and Apatosaurus. Hoskins tells Owen he wants to use Owens Velociraptors to capture the Indominus Rex. The Velociraptors, Blue, Echo, Charlie, and Delta are under the command of Owen until the pack of raptors confronts the Indominus Rex for the first time. The five dinosaurs appear to be communicating with one another and latter turn on all the soldiers including Owen and Barry.

As Owen, Claire, Zack, and Gray begin to escape from the Velociraptors and Indominus Rex, the four main characters come face to face with the hybrid monster. When the pack of Velociraptors show up on seen, they end up re-siding with Owen and turn their aggression this time, on the Indominus Rex. As the remaining raptors begin to fight the Indominus Rex, the hybrid dinosaur ends up killing them all except for Blue, who is thrown into quite a distance and presumably pronounced dead. Claire has the best idea in the entire movie, and ends up running towards the Tyrannosaurus Rex paddock. The Tyrannosaurus Rex, also known as “Rexy” is the same Tyrannosaurus Rex from the original film that took place over twenty two years ago. The Tyrannosaurus Rex, or Rexy was fully grown in the first film, and now being over twenty two years older in Jurassic World, is clearly on of the oldest, if not, the oldest of all the dinosaurs on any of the Islands, including Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna.

Claire uses the distinguishing flare attention grabber to lure out the Tyrannosaurus Rex from her paddock and into main street to finish off the Indominus Rex and restore the balance of power back on the island. As Rexy, the Tyrannosaurus Rex comes up on the fight scene between the Indominus Rex and the what appears to be all the dead Velociraptors, begins to battle it out with the Indominus Rex. The two heavey weight dinosaurs battle it out in a clash of the titans grudge match. The Indominus Rex is both larger, younger, more agile, has more stamina, and has a wider array of defensive and offensive weapons such as a boney hide and large forearms with long claws. The Tyrannosaurus Rex (Rexy) is no push over though and puts up an excellent fight with the overly large hybrid dinosaur. As the Indominus Rex pins Rexy on the ground and is about to deliver the finishing move to the Tyrannosaurus Rex, out from the shadows appears Blue, the last surviving Velociraptor and without hesitation leaps on the Indominus Rex and begins to dish out a large dose of raptor bad ass on the hybrid monster. When the Indominus Rex is being distracted and occupied with Blue, the older Rexy lumbers back into the fray and begins put a veteran smack down on the Indominus Rex. Rexy uses her incredible bite force and large jaws to toss the Indominus Rex around like a rag doll, into buildings and onto the pavement. Rexy then rams the Indominus Rex in the side, knocking the hybrid creature back off her feet and onto the ground. Rexy and Blue both walk up onto the Indominus Rex, as she begins to stand up, the Mosasaurus jumps out of the water and onto the edge of the ground and the Mosasaurus tank, and bites the Indominus Rex by the neck, then pushes back into the tank to drown the Indominus Rex.

Rexy and Blue look at each other and the Tyrannosaurus Rex walks back into the jungle while Blue walks up to Owen, Claire, Zach, and Gray. It appears that Owen and Blue both say their silent goodbyes, before Blue bolts off into the jungle. Towards the end of the movie, we see Zach and Gray reunited with their family, along with Owen and Claire beginning to “get back together.” The final scene pays homage to Rexy, the oldest of all the dinosaurs walking up on what appears to be a helipad and gives her signature roar, proclaiming that no matter how old she is, she will always be Queen of the Dinosaurs.

I plan on seeing this movie at least two or three more times in the movie theater before I buy it on DVD. The special effects, animatronics, theme, and overall action and drama elements were top notch in Jurassic World. I could here slight variations in theme songs from all the movies, but more of a pronunciation from the original, Jurassic Park. I am actually thinking this is my favorite out of the four movies. If I had to rank my favorite “Jurassic” movie from best to worst, It would look something like this…

1. Jurassic World
2. Jurassic Park
3. Jurassic Park: The Lost World
4. Jurassic Park 3

I cannot wait for the fifth movie to be released, supposedly we will be seeing some new dinosaurs introduced including some ice age dinosaurs. Until the next “Jurassic” movie is released, keep up to date on what we know by discussing this and more in our discussion forums.
